Trainees on their way to the top

Merchant trainees of Köppen GmbH are taking part at the "News to Use" project of the newspaper RHEINISCHE POST

Next to the professional knowledge of practice and theory communicated in school and the company of course it´s necessary to build out the social skills for the occupational future.

Soft Skills are in the focus of the employer. These skills are not more important than in the past but hard to find in young peoples life today. The verbal skills for example got lost because of less interest in reading books or news in the tv are just watched half way. The electronical non personal communication between the young people is also one reason of loosing verbal skills today. To become a merchant skills like communication in writing and personal articulateness are indispensable.

The “Rheinische Post” started a project called “News to Use”. During this project the trainees get a newspaper every day. The costs are paid by the trainees company. Every 2nd week they have to fill up a form and to answer questions with basic on the newspaper articles to there training manager. Köppen GmbH wants to assist the language use and the general knowledge.

In combination to this projects different events will be done by the “Rheinische Post”.They did the first step beginning of September. Together with the trainee Manager Heike Wolf and Jochen Köppen the trainees went to one of the most modern print office of the “Rheinische Post” in Düsseldorf to get an impressive guidance there.
